it is very detailed and easy to understand April 22, 1999 45 out of 48 found this review helpful
I am taking a CPT coding class and my teacher is Ms.Rowell herself. I am so very pleased with this book, for it gives you step by step instructions in a very detailed manner. The layout is terrific, and the examples given in the book give you a sinerio that helps you put a real life situation into perspective. I have not found a better book that explains health insurance. If you are working in a "billing" environment, you should have this book.
handy handbook January 18, 2001 26 out of 26 found this review helpful
This book is written in an easy to understand style and anyone running a private billing service or working out of a medical office will find it very useful. It is especially helpful for understanding how to prepare HCFA claims for all third party insurance payers and medicare. I am a medical office manager and I find the book informative with tips to coding appropriately from source documents or superbills. I have recommended it to professional colleagues and billing beginners as well.
LEARN HEALTH PROVIDER CODING June 2, 2001 Kate Wright (Southfield, MI United States) 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
This text, workbook, and instructor's manual - which has the answers :-) - are very well put together, easy to follow and thoroughly cover the usual procedures of coding and touch on many hard-to-code ones. I found the history section informative and much as I wanted to get to the coding work, very thorough and very interesting. There are many questions throughout the lessons that very are well thought out and follow the text extremely well and reinforce what you have just read. This set of instructional manuals will really help you learn this subject.
Comprehensive Instruction Material for Beginner Coders and Billers April 9, 2007 Dr. Yuval Lirov (New Jersey, USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Medical coding and billing continuously evolve in large part because insurance companies and providers have conflicting business goals. An effective biller must go beyond simple claim submission and discover the reasons for underpayments and denials, to solicit missing information from both providers and payers, and follow up on every claim until its full payment.
Rowell's and Green's Guide provides an ideal introductory didactic set of materials covering everything from history of health care reimbursement, major insurance companies, and federal health care legislation, to basic knowledge of national diagnosis and procedure coding rules, to complex topics, such as V-codes, and diagnosis code linking. The text is replete with examples and exercises, helping students understand and remember the needed materials.
